Welcome to BrownBiotech, the web site of the Brown Biotechnology Interest
Group. Founded in Fall 2002, BIG was formed to promote interest in and
understanding of biotechnology at Brown and in Rhode Island. We use the
term biotechnology to include all technologies which promote human health,
including small molecule pharmaceuticals, proteins and medical devices.
The Group's several hundred members consist of Brown undergraduates, medical students and graduate students. Additionally, we count professors, industry leaders and students from other universities among our ranks. Joining the Brown Biotechnology Interest Group is free and easy. Just click here.
BIG sponsors many events including the Brown Biotech Expo and several lecture series. To date, BIG has brought in over 50 speakers from outside Brown Univeristy, including Rhode Island's Governor Donald Carcieri and many industry leaders. For a partial list of speakers to date, please click here.
